Retired Major General Bill Raines, seated at left, recently turned over the chairmanship of the Charles H. Coolidge Medal of Honor Heritage Center (MOHHC) to retired Admiral Noah Long, seated at right. Raines, through his aggressive inspirational leadership along with a competent team, accomplished what many thought an impossibility, erecting a facility recognizing Medal of Honor recipients and their character traits. Even before the state-of-the-art facility was completed, the Character Education Program was being implemented in the school system. Noah Long, who was previously in charge of the development of exhibits and acquisitions, was the clear choice to continue with strong leadership. The first Medals of Honor were presented in Chattanooga during the Civil War.
