Chattanooga, TN — The Howard School, one of Tennessee’s most historic educational institutions, proudly celebrated its 160th Anniversary on Monday, September 29, 2025, honoring a remarkable legacy that began in 1865.
As part of the milestone celebration, the Howard High School Class of 1970 made a special presentation to their beloved alma mater — a check donation of $1,000.00 in support of ongoing school programs and student success initiatives.
Representing the Class of 1970 were Christy Rashed, Iris Hamilton, Joseph Herdon, Colleen Canion, Sarah Lawson, Shakir Rashed, Gertha Lee Sharpe, Rutha Nell Bowman Smith and Joyce Miller, who together expressed their continued pride and dedication to the school that helped shape their lives and careers.
“This contribution is a small way of giving back to a school that gave us so much,” shared a class representative during the presentation. “Howard’s legacy is not just in its history but in the generations of students who continue to achieve, lead, and serve.”
