The third annual Summer Outreach Safety (S.O.S.) Festival drew hundreds of local residents to the Chris L. Ramsey Sr. Community Center on May 31, transforming the venue into a focal point of education and family fun.
The free event, running from 3-6 p.m., offered an afternoon of games, food and vital safety information delivered by first responders and public health professionals.
The Chattanooga Fire Department, a primary organizer of the event, released a statement emphasizing its commitment to resident connection and ensuring families are “prepared and informed.” They added, “The turnout shows how much people value safety and togetherness.”
The festival featured more than 20 exhibitors covering essential risk management topics including fire prevention, driving safety, water safety, elderly care and CPR training. Children of all ages enjoyed hands-on activities and games while parents engaged with experts on keeping their families safe during the summer months.
Food trucks provided refreshments throughout the afternoon, and attendees had opportunities to win prizes while learning life-saving skills and protective tips.
The collaborative effort brought together a coalition of local organizations committed to community well-being. Partners included Safe and Sound, Erlanger, Children’s Hospital at Erlanger, CHI Memorial, the Hamilton County Health Department, the City of Chattanooga, Chattanooga Community Development, the Chattanooga Fire Department, the Chattanooga Police Department, and Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors, among others.
Each organization contributed specialized expertise through interactive booths and demonstrations, creating a comprehensive preparedness education experience for attendees.
Now in its third year, the S.O.S. Festival continues to grow in both attendance and impact, demonstrating Chattanooga’s strong commitment to public safety and preparedness.
