The Chattanooga Fire Department has announced the promotion of Captain Vernon Horn to Battalion Chief, recognizing his years of dedicated service and exceptional leadership within the department.
“Captain Horn has been an outstanding leader and an exceptional example of dedication, professionalism, and teamwork within our department. He has earned the respect of his peers and the confidence of our leadership team,” said Fire Chief Terry Knowles.
As Battalion Chief, Horn will take on expanded leadership responsibilities, overseeing operations, personnel, and response coordination across multiple fire companies.
“He will be stepping into an incredibly important role–one that is vital to the continued success and safety of our department. I have no doubt that he will excel in his new position,” Chief Knowles added. Horn has built a strong reputation throughout his career. His dedication to excellence was highlighted in 2011, when he represented the Chattanooga Fire Department at the Tennessee Ultimate Fire Fighter (TUFF) Challenge, held in Bell Buckle, earning second place statewide in the “Pro Paid” division with a time of 1:56.
