On Saturday, July 19, over 600 people gathered from 9am – 1pm to benefit from and celebrate the 24th Annual Minority Health Fair at McKenzie Arena on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. From 8am-9am, organizers conducted a “healthy walk” with participants. The gathering provided hundreds of people with free medical screenings, invaluable health education and connections to area medical and social service resources. Teams of physicians, nurses, health educators and other medical and social service professionals represented over 70 vendors along with representatives from a host of sponsors.

The historical event, initiated in 2001 is hosted by Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the Southeast Tennessee Health Consortium. There theme continues to be “Your Health, Your Power: Empowering our Community, One Check-Up at a Time”. Their goal is to reduce health disparities by improving access to health and social services resources and by improving health awareness and health literacy.
